We stayed at El Buena Vista Hotel on our last night in Costa Rica, having gone to the Southern Pacific area (Ojochal) to purchase property. Our only regret is that we found the hotel on our last night instead of our first. The rooms and views are spectacular, the price is really inexpensive, and Josie and Marco made everyone feel at home. When we come back to supervise the beginning of our construction, we will definitely book El Buena Vista for at least two weeks. Pura Vida!

El Buena Vista is a great value and a beautiful place to stay while visiting the Ojochal area. The studios are clean and well appointed with comfortable beds with kitchenettes on each terrace. The proprietors, Josee and Marco, are delightful. The studios have balconies overlooking the ocean where you can sit, relax and watch the sunset while parrots fly by. My husband and I have recommended it to several of our friends and not one has been disappointed with their stay. Josee and Marco are wonderful people who are happy to assist with tours and advice on the area.

The El Buena Vista hotel is a brand new, bed and breaksfast(I hesitate to call it a hotel with only 5 rooms)located on a quiet hilltop with great view of the surrounding hills and mountain. I stayed at the hotel for two weeks.
The hosts (Josee, Marco and Maxime) are Canadian ex-patriates and are very friendly and accommodating. The interact easily with their guests and can provide plenty of information to help plan daily activities.
The rooms are clean and nicely appointed but they are not luxurious. Three of the rooms have basic patio kitchens. Because Josee cooks excellent dinners in the evenings for a nominal fee upon request, and because a full breakfast is included, I did not make use of the kitchen except for the fridge.
Birdwatching is excellent and, as an occasional birdwatcher, I identified 30 species within 200 meters of the hotel as well as many other species that I could not identify.
Maxime is a paragliding guide and tandem pilot and he will gladly take a guest on a tandem paragliding flight at a very competitive rate so they can discover the beauty of this exceptional sport. He can also be hired to guide trained pilots. I took advantage and was very pleased with his dedication, knowledge of the local sites and attention to safety.
Overall, I thouroughly enjoyed my stay and I have no problem recommending it to fellow travellers who like a quiet place to call home after a day of activity.
